All Day Activities

ESports

Rocket League is a vehicular soccer game. Teams of 3 players control 3 rocket-powered cars which they need to use in order to hit the ball into the goal in order to score. Highest score after 5 minutes wins! Sign up with your friends or sign up solo and meet some new ones to compete against another team of Kids Fest Attendees! Use the same state-of-the-art gaming PCs that are used by the National Collegiate Rocket League Champions, Akron Esports to get the best test of your Rocket League skill.   Click here to learn more about UA Esports.

Robotics

IMG 0150The University of Akron’s Urban STEM Center will have 3 levels of interactive and hands on robotic displays. It is for kindergarten all the way to high school aged kids.

Chess Tournament

Akron KidsFest Chess Tournament is hosted by senior chess instructor David Bills. Registration is limited to 100 participants. The tournament will kick off at 10:30 am on June 15th. Medals will be awarded to the winners! This activitiy is for children 18 and under. Fill out the registration form below to register for this free event.

Paper Rockets / Rocket Displays


The University of Akron Akronauts will run an activity helping the kids build and launch paper rockets at KidsFest. This activity will run all day long and is geared toward elementary and middle school aged kids.

How do you get your mad out? Is it safe? Make a stress ball so you can squeeze your “mad" into the Squeezie!

Sometimes we get shaken up inside - sad, upset, or confused. Learn how a calming bottle can help and create one to help you calm down at home.

Trace that Face – Make and Take an Emoji Drawing 
Play a round of “Feel” in the Blanks and pick an emoji-style face to trace and color.

If love was colorful, what do you think it might look like? Watch the colors of love spread using coffee filters, markers, and water.

Musical Mandalas – Color in a Mandala 
Coloring in a mandala will help you learn to focus, pay attention longer and grow your grit. And did you know that music can change your mood?

Scruples and Strengths – Make and Take a Bracelet
Play a round of Scruples for Kids and create a bracelet based on your personal strengths.

Instrument Petting Zoo

A space for kids to experiment and try out different instruments in the woodwind family, brass family, string family, and percussion family.  Kids will learn how to make their first sounds on an instrument as well as a few note, how to hold the instrument and how to take care of it.  Presented by the rock star staff from Rising Star Center for the Arts.

Jr Chef Competition 

There are 3 different aged levels of competitions: preschool, elementary/middle school, and high school aged teams will compete to display their culinary skills against each other. Each level will have a mystery basket to work from, and their final creation will be sampled by our 3 Judges to crown winners!

Dancing Around The World - 10:45AM - 1:30PM

Professional dancer and choreographer Brian Murphy will teach kids a dance to be performed in front of a green screen, produced into a video, and posted on the KidsFest Youtube channel!

Balloon Twisters - 11:00AM - 3:00PM

Rick Everhart has been twisting balloon sculptures all over Ohio for the past 19 years. The Twin's Day Festival, Tim Tebow's, "A Night to Shine", Miss Ohio Events, Blue Canyon Kitchen & Tavern, and many other venues have hired Rick to entertain their guests. Children and adults always walk away with a smile and anything ranging from a monkey on a palm tree to an alien hat.

The Snow Queen, Ice Princess, Polynesian Princess, and Ocean Voyager will be at KidsFest from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm for meet and greet and pictures! Don’t miss their special performance on stage from 11:30 am until 11:50 am!

Magical Science - On stage from 12:05 - 12:45pm

Magical Science!! science magic show

Witness as a gummy bear disappears into a dazzling display of fireworks. Be astonished as elephant toothpaste explodes high into the air. Be astounded as a 3,000-year-old genie is summoned from a bottle to reveal the mysteries of the ancient universe. Answer burning questions such as: Can swimming eggs fly? What are Frankenstein’s teeth made of? And why are goopy goobers so goopy? Performed by Dr. Regan Silvestri, a.k.a. Professor Reggie, The Rock'n'Roll Doctor, -Professor of Chemistry at Lorain County Comunity College. Science can be fun, and yes, even entertaining!

Ninja Course

Kids of all ages can test their strength, endurance, coordination, agility, and balance in the Akron Children’s Museum Monster Mission ninja course!  Kids will be coached on the course by professional ninja trainer and owner of the Ninja Hub, Tim Adam.
