Amber Genet Barkoukis is a passionate leader with a commitment to empowering communities and fostering positive change. Through her personal and professional efforts, Amber strives to foster a culture of compassion, empathy, and collaboration, ultimately leading to a brighter and more promising future for the community she calls home. 

Having spent nearly a decade in both the nonprofit and corporate sectors, Amber possesses a deep understanding of the social and economic challenges that our community faces. Through effective communication, advocacy, and partnership development, she strives to bridge gaps and build a stronger, more inclusive society.

Amber holds double bachelor degrees in Public Relations and Business Communications, and a Masters in Communication from The University of Akron.

Amber is actively engaged in various community-based initiatives and organizations, further exemplifying her dedication to creating positive change. In addition to serving on the Board of the Akron Children’s Museum, Amber has held roles with other local nonprofits. Including the University of Akron National Alumni Board, United Disability Services of Akron, Downtown Akron Partnership, Torchbearers Akron, Association of Fundraising Professionals of Ohio and many event committees throughout the area.

Amber looks forward to time with her husband, Paul, and their children Evan and Ryan. They enjoy making memories through exploring new places, destinations and meeting new people.
